Jmovie: Usagi Drop The Movie(2011)

Rating: 5/6

The movie is about an office worker named Daikichi, who after his grandfathers funeral suddenly agrees to take care of his 6 year old aunt(his grandfathers daughter).

I for one have definitely heard similar plotlines before, and sometimes I’ve liked it too.
I didn’t just like this movie though. I loved it!

The approach is somewhat realistic, in a way that makes it funny without too much slapstick humor, and still real without being boring or tragic.

It’s definitely also one of those movies which make me a fan of Kenichi Matsuyama(Daikichi)>.<
Because he did simply awesome, and Mana Ashida(the little girl) did a great job too, and both of their characters grow throughout the course of the movie.

The clichés are still present though, and even though it’s not completely predictable you do sometimes get the feeling you’ve seen some things before. All the little details really make up for it though, and it didn’t really bother me that much.

The thing that did bother me though was a few crying scenes, because they were kind of overdone, but I loved so many other moments along the way that I can’t bring myself to dislike the movie just because of that.

It is the only thing which makes me give it a 5 instead of a 6 though, because I just really, really love this movie! I even feel like I want to watch it again, and that doesn’t happen too often.

The long trailer catch the mood better, but it has some spoilers so here is the short one:

…I’ll probably pester all my friends now until they’ve watched it tooXD (Miss My, I’m coming for you!)
Watch it! Definitely watch it!

The whole movie can be found on youtube now:

But it might be removed soon…

Visual kei air band!

The guitarist doesn’t play guitar, the bassist doesn’t play bass, and the drummer doesn’t play drums, but they are still so entertaining they have played in arenas housing 14 000 people, and now they are even releasing an international album.

Japans first visual kei air band is here! Golden Bomber!

This interesting band started in 2004 and currently consist of four members:
From left to right:
Bass: Jun Utahiroba
Vocals: Shou Kiryuuin
Guitar: Yutaka Kyan
Drums: Kenji Darvish

The vocalist actually does write and sing the songs, but the other instruments are played by hired musicians. The band is completely open about this, and compensate by pretending to play(which they do quite well), and otherwise acting silly(which they also do quite well).

A big part of the sillyness is their live shows. Not only do they make good shows, but they really spice things up by doing random and funny things, especially during guitar solos.

One example: Using the guitarist as a brush for writing kanji: (The writing part starts at 3:37)

The props they use during these shows(some of which are big) are made by their guitarist, so even though he usually doesn’t play an instrument he still has his part.
The drummer also has a big part in the shows though, as the songs are played and controlled from his ipod...

Live shows aren’t the only thing that makes them so fun though. They have music videos of course, and there are also lots of other random videos from them which can be found on youtube.

Here's one of their music videos:

And here is some of their older more random stuff:

I must have been watching these random videos for hours, and it was there they first caught my interest.
At least no one can accuse them of taking themselves too seriously.

Even though they are kind of doing a parody of visual kei, some of their songs are pretty catchy!
Or am I the only one who think they are awesome?
I’ve seen them around more often lately, which suggests they are rising in popularity, but it’s a bit difficult to tell really >.<

Anyway, if they seem likeable, be sure to check them out! ^^

Isn't it about time I got sick of this music video!?

Ok, so I don't listen to a lot of kpop(jrock is more my street), but there are certain music videos I just can't stop watching! My current addiction is Bigbang - Monster, and Junsu - Tarantallegra.
It seems I'm hooked>.<

Awesome costumes and catchy song, I'm in! I hope they make more stuff like this:D
Fantastic baby was also cool of course^^

As MissMy told me, they're really singing the same thing over and over again here, so I'm blaming this one on the dancing!
..or the weirdness... there is something about the sound as well.

I've lost count on how many times I've seen and heard these>.<
The kpop infection has started! Somebody help me before it's too late!
