Jmovie: Usagi Drop The Movie(2011)

Rating: 5/6

The movie is about an office worker named Daikichi, who after his grandfathers funeral suddenly agrees to take care of his 6 year old aunt(his grandfathers daughter).

I for one have definitely heard similar plotlines before, and sometimes I’ve liked it too.
I didn’t just like this movie though. I loved it!

The approach is somewhat realistic, in a way that makes it funny without too much slapstick humor, and still real without being boring or tragic.

It’s definitely also one of those movies which make me a fan of Kenichi Matsuyama(Daikichi)>.<
Because he did simply awesome, and Mana Ashida(the little girl) did a great job too, and both of their characters grow throughout the course of the movie.

The clichés are still present though, and even though it’s not completely predictable you do sometimes get the feeling you’ve seen some things before. All the little details really make up for it though, and it didn’t really bother me that much.

The thing that did bother me though was a few crying scenes, because they were kind of overdone, but I loved so many other moments along the way that I can’t bring myself to dislike the movie just because of that.

It is the only thing which makes me give it a 5 instead of a 6 though, because I just really, really love this movie! I even feel like I want to watch it again, and that doesn’t happen too often.

The long trailer catch the mood better, but it has some spoilers so here is the short one:

…I’ll probably pester all my friends now until they’ve watched it tooXD (Miss My, I’m coming for you!)
Watch it! Definitely watch it!

The whole movie can be found on youtube now:

But it might be removed soon…

Kmovie: You are my pet (2011)

Rating: 3/6
I wish it had the depth of the drama-version :/

Plot: Eun-Yi is a editor for a fashion magazine, who doesn't get along well with her colleagues.
In-Ho(Jang Keun-Suk) is a dancer, who wishes to become a musical choreographer. He needs a place to stay, and Eun-Yis brother offers him to stay in her house. He pays the brother money for rent, but Eun-Yi is only told they would be staying temporarily. When the brother leaves, she wants to throw In-Ho out of the house, but he reminds her of a dog she used to have, and she lets him stay as a pet. And that's where the complications start.

I really liked the Japanese drama version of this, so when I heard there would be a korean movie version, I was thrilled. But when I finally saw the movie, it wasn't anything special.

Trailer:

In both versions, you have this kind of happy-go-lucky guy who is taken care of by a cold business-woman, and some romance stuff. The difference is the way it's done.

In this movie, they get closer, with complications and funny moments, but in the drama you also have things happening on the inside, like inner conflicts, uncertainties and sadness.
I know dramaseries have a great deal more time on their hands, so you
Picture from the Japanese drama
could expect there to be less depth in a movie, but you can still have time for characters in three dimentions. It just didn't seem real.

Maybe I just like more emo stuff, but i can't help it. It's bothering me><
I can't come up with a long list of other concrete negative things about it though, so if you want a light funny romance movie, this might be straight up your alley.
But with my subjective opinion, it was just not up mineXD
Jang Keun-Suk was much better than Matsumoto Jun though(who's kind of annoying), so that helped a bit >)

The movie can actually currently be found on youtube:

I don't know where else to find it though.. So when it's removed you might actually have to pay for it:O

But I recommend the Japanese one! ><..this fantrailer has spoilers though, and French subtitles, so watch out!

Jdrama: Zenkai girl(2011)

Rating: 6/6

It's a loong time since I got really addicted to a Japanese drama(it's been mostly Korean lately), but this one actually had me hooked!

The story is about Ayukawa Wakaba(Aragaki Yui), who since she was little has worked hard to become a successful lawyer with lots of money and a rich husband. She gets a job at a big law firm, but is only given the task of babysitting the 5 year old daughter(Hinata) of her boss.
While doing this, she also meets a group of single fathers(among them Yamada Sota played by Nishikido Ryo) , and she starts questioning her current dream. At the same time, she also finds the kind of man she's been dreaming of the law firm, so what will she choose?

I guess what really makes much of the awesomeness in a drama like this is the characters.

Ayukawa is a strong-willed businesswoman who maybe focuses too much about her goals, while Yamada is a good guy who pushes his own goals too much aside. These two have major differences, and of course this creates some debate, as they challenge each others way of life.
Both are good actors, and especially Nishikido was better than I expected. Boyband members are not always chosen for roles based on their acting abilities, but he actually did really well!

And I love the kids! Ayukawa is babysitting the girl named Hinata, who is trying to act older and smart, and sometimes manages it. Yamada raises the boy Emitaro, who is the more typical sweet kid who in his innocence unknowingly has wise moments. They are really cute^^ and both have their own troubles, and sometimes give advice in their own way.

Not all of the others are super awesome though, both as characters and actors. The single fathers are obvious idiots, and some people are naive or overdone, but it's a drama, so that's how it's supposed to be.

Of course it's a quirky and awkward love story, but the whole environment with the situations and the goofy, sweet or allknowing cast members makes it really entertaining and good. You also wonder what comes next, like you should with a dramaseries, which is definitely a plus.
I don't really have anything more to say. It's awesome, watch it!

It's easy to find, for example at dailymotion:

Jmovie: Gantz live action(2011)

When reading this, remember these things:
Point 1: I have only read the first few chapters of the Gantz manga, and it's a long time ago. (I know it's popular, but I guess the close-ups of a naked woman, which then was attempted raped, gave a certain impression I didn't like.) I guess that means this is like watching a movie without reading the book, which should automatically give me a better impression of the movie.
Point 2: The only subtitles I had was Japanese, so I may not have gotten all neuances in their lines. I still understood what was going on though, and in action movies the most important stuff is most often not in what is said, but I still may have missed lines or details.
Point 3: The movie has a lot of famous people, among them Kenichi Matsuyama..

So my view of the movie may not be completely objective, and I may sound like an ignorant blabbering moron :D

But anyway, here's my opinion of it:

Rating: 5/6

The plot is about two guys who get killed by a train when trying to rescue a man from the tracks. They then suddenly find themselves in a room with some other people and a wierd black sphere that sends them all out on missions to kill aliens.

The plot is quite simple actually, but of course they fill in some emotional stuff and surrounding events to make the whole thing interesting.

I have serious issues with finding a trailer that only is for this movie, because it's really a two-part thing and the trailers I can without digging through all of them are for both. And here it is:

So the movie tell us about life and death, and the relationships and alien-fighting that comes along.

You don't see the aliens in the trailer, which is good, because I think the best thing with them was how unexpected and creative they were. They aren't really too easy to win over either, and stuff doesn't look like it's made of carboard, which is all good.

You also have distruction on a large scale, for those who like explosions and shit.

As for the characters, the main ones are without doubt Kurono(Kazunari Ninomiya) and Kato(Kenichi Matsuyama), and as the movie goes their friendship becomes so clear it makes me suspect there are some fanfictions somewhere about this stuff.

There's also the asshole Nishi(Kanata Hongo) and the girl that shows up nude(Natsuna Watanabe), and it's with and about these four we see most.

As for acting, I think Matsuyama does the part quite well(I guess he's good at playing sad and brave). As for Ninomiya, he did good, but I think I just like him better in nervous teenager parts than this stuff.
Kanata Hongo is playing a mischevious bastard, so I guess he's supposed to be kind of annoying, but Yuriko Yoshitaka didn't really leave an impression. Maybe she's more in the background and without strong overdone personal traits.. I'm not too sure.

And I guess the actors kind of made this movie a 5 instead of a 6 in my opinion, because the rest is really good, but I don't know... It may be a point for the characters to be "normal people", but I would have liked them to be a bit more action-ish:P It seems like they really decided to have famous actors in this one no matter whatXD

But I can't really come up with some other things I disliked about the movie, so I guess I really liked it then:D And I don't really have much more to say, because basically it's just like it seems in the trailer!
So if it looks like a movie you'd like, you'll probably like it as well:)

And I'm soon watching nr. 2, where they put in at least one more famous actor!(Takayuki Yamada, this guy seems to be everywhere latelyXD)
